Thank you for sharing your journey so far with our readers. Let’s begin: please introduce yourself and let us know how long ago your journey started? What drew you to art? Any early influences?

Park

Hello, I'm Park Hye-rin, a 3D modeling artist who goes to Locus in Korea. When I was 20 years old, I started studying 3D materials while studying animation at Chungkang University of Culture and Industry. As I approached professional work, I became more interested in the works of students and artists around me, and I also wanted to make a great work. This kind of mindfulness keeps driving me.

What training or learning did you do in those beginning stages? Could you see your progression?

Park

I set a goal of more than 7 hours every day and concentrated on the work. It was difficult to do CG work alone, so I joined a study group to proceed. As you work, your eyes get used to it and you don't find anything to fix. At this time, I received feedback from the researchers and corrected the parts I didn't see. And if you have time, use sites such as Artstation and 3dtotal. I've been trying to broaden my horizon by looking at other works.

Which piece are you most proud of, and why?

Park

Of course, I'm most proud of "Lena" in my work. It is a proper portfolio piece after learning many different tools for the first time. It was a work that was loved a lot during my art group after making it. It's the first time we've ever tried human modeling, so it's the first time we've done a portrait like this. There were many twists and turns, but it was expressed well and I am satisfied.

What advice would you give to any of our readers who are just beginning their journey now?

Park

What I want to say to my friends is if you have just started don’t compare yourself with others. If you compare, you'll lose confidence. This problem does not disappear easily after joining a company. If you lose confidence, it becomes difficult to proceed.

I hope you don't fall into this despair and learn only what you can learn from great works.

What can we expect to see from you next?

Park

I’m currently very busy in my new job, because I'm a new employee and I'm adapting to the company. If I have time to adjust, I will make a female character with a cyberpunk theme in my next project. I want to make a work that looks fancy and cool.

I want to work on it again next time and put it on 3dtotal!
