Tell us a little bit about yourself: Who are you, what do you do, and where are you located?

Adam

Hello, my name is Adam Pierre. I'm 29 years old and was born in Indaiatuba, SP. Since I was a child I have always been connected to art, drawing comics and characters. I studied oil painting, traditional sculpture, and held exhibitions in some regions in the state of SP.

When I was of age, I started my studies in Graphic Design. I started working as an illustrator and designer for scenography companies.

Over time I became interested in 3D and started my studies. Today I work as a 3D generalist, for approximately 5 years. I started my career working with special projects in scenography, architecture, and construction projects. 3 years ago I started my work with advertising. I have worked on great projects for several studios.

What was the workflow behind your latest gallery image? Where did the idea come from?

Adam

For this work I followed the pipeline of a studio with an animation production: eference search, blocking, modeling, references for look development, textures, shaders, lighting, rendering, and post production. This work I developed for Oikotie; a company specializing in special projects located in Rio de Janeiro.

The project has the purpose of a unique and differentiated design, and mine was only one part of it. The finished project will be a large park full of attractions for children.

The idea came from several references mainly from international parks. Based on several characteristics of the client, we developed a story for the park. A Playful Park and full of children's attractions with unique and characteristic design.

What challenges did the image present? Did you learn something new?

Adam

I did have some challenges in the image, yes. I was interested in conveying a sense of reality for something that looked unreal. A playful and magical project in an environment and a real challenge. To present part of our park in a place that gives the feeling of reality and an everyday environment.

At the same time, I would like to give an air of fantasy and imagination. Imagine a magic playground where children can awaken their imagination and enter a private universe from within. The idea is not to be just another playground, but an enchanted and private place.

A technical challenge was the blend of 3D with HDRI to be convincing. I believe it worked well. I believe I had an evolution in the way I analyze my image. Observing what works best to convey the sensation I wanted.

Do you use any other software, either for work or personal projects?

Adam

In this work I forced myself to evolve my skills with Maya, modeling and opening my UVs on it. I applied new painting techniques with Substance Painter. I learned to work with a new renderer, Corona Renderer. It was very interesting to work with him. I also worked with Zbrush for some sculpture details.

I finished the work with 3ds Max with the render, made the composition with After Effects. To present in more detail the work I rendered some turntables and made the comp in After Effects too.

How do you keep your portfolio up-to-date? Any tips?

Adam

To keep my portfolio up to date, I usually divide between personal and industry jobs. I would like to have a lot more personal work presented, but it is not always possible because of the time spent on projects. Whenever I can I try to study new things and start a personal project that preferably teaches me something new. I am always looking to work with new tools and different techniques to increase my skills for different circumstances.

Something that helps me to be inspired in producing my own content is watching movies and series on different themes. I always feel inspired by this to produce something. Besides, of course, I see works by artists that I have as a reference. This always motivates me to produce more!

Are you a member of any social media groups? Any favorite hashtags you check on a daily basis?

Adam

Yes,  of course. I participate in several groups related to 3D, inside Facebook, in addition to several hashtags on Instagram. These groups help me a lot for learning and inspiration, because in my routine I usually see in the morning some online portfolio sites like full 3D, artstation, facebook groups and some hashtags like: #80level, #cgart, # 3dtotal, #autodeskbrasil, among others, these I always follow.

What are your artistic ambitions?

Adam

I have many ambitions with my work. I have ambitions to lead a great project, with many responsibilities. I would like to delve deeper into new tools, such as animation. It is a part of the work that I admire so much, I intend to dedicate myself more to this part of the work. I am also interested in working and living abroad, so I can have new experiences and learn new things, which go beyond 3D.

Besides, I dream of one day taking part in a feature film. I believe that many in this area dream of this. Seeing my name at the end of a movie in the cinema will certainly be a great professional achievement.

Who are your favorite artists, traditional or digital, and can you explain why?

Adam

David Ardinaryas Lojaya – a character designer, I see a unique style in his paintings that point very well to the textures of the models. Tyler Bolyard – an excellent lookdevelopment and grooming artist. Brandon Lawless, Luigi Lucarelli, Sergi Caballer, Rafael Sam – all excellent character modelers and designers. Rafael Chies is a great envirnoment artist. And Pedro Conti is my biggest inspiration! Excellent in everything he does, besides being a wonderful person! Great man!
