In September we launched our first ever sketching contest. A month later we are thrilled to be able to announce the winners!

First prize was our current range of sketching products, including the full Sketch Workshop
set and Sketching from the Imagination series

Thank you to everyone who submitted their sketches to our first sketching contest! Over 70 of you participated and it was a pleasure looking through your creations! With a massive thanks to special guest judge Jakub Rebelka, we are pleased to say congratulations to the following winners:

1st prize: Daikon by Jan Derrick S. Buragay

A cyberpunk-themed bounty hunter ship repurposed from an ex-heavy armed transport ship

Materials used: A5 sketchbook with cream paper, mechanical pencil, eraser, black 0.1, 0.3, and 0.8 Unipin fine liners, 0.4 red colored fine liners, watercolor brush pen, black ink brush pen, white ink gel pen, gray markers.

2nd prize: Stuxnet Mk.1 by Dustin Kraus

Most of the references were of Boston Dynamics type robotics, with a Gekko included

Materials used: red pencil, Pigma inks, various shades of gray Prismacolor markers, on Bristol board.

3rd prize: Moby Dick by Marek Rakucák

Method and materials: made first with a pencil sketch and then simple ball-pen crosshatching on A2 paper. After probably 2–3 weeks of night-drawing it was finished, with some small corrections made in Photoshop.

It was tough choosing three out of so many awesome sketches, so as a special thank you for participating, all entrants will be sent a 10% discount code for the 3dtotal shop!

We hope you enjoyed the contest – hopefully we'll be able to run another one in the future! Don't forget that in the meantime you can join the Daily Sketching Workout group on Facebook! Each day 3dtotal editor Marisa gives you a daily topic to keep you inspired and motivated – you'll also be in with a chance of winning one of our weekly prizes!

Happy sketching!
