What was the workflow behind your latest gallery image? Where did the idea come from?
Marlon
Part of my work is creating digital humans, so a great part of my time I invest in research. For this I chose a project that fits my needs. In this case I chose Jason Mamoa because I wanted to practice different Xgen worflows and the likeness behind the facial hair would be more complicated.

What challenges did the image present? Did you learn something new?
Marlon
The hair was a whole experience and I had to rebuild it twice. In fact what I learned is that it is always best to divide your hair into different descriptions. In this case I use a separate description for the top, side, back, and loose hair. In this way I didnt need to worry so much about interpolation but focus on isolated areas of my choice.

How do you keep your portfolio up-to-date? Any tips?
Marlon
Making digital humans is an endless field, so no matter what you try to keep it up to date. It is good to follow fellow artists and talk to them. In my case I am lucky to have several friends that help me during my projects so I can solve my questions.
Also, since I work with great studios, it brings me the opportunities to use workflows I am not familiar with.

Who are your favorite artists, traditional or digital, and can you explain why?
Marlon
I follow different varieties of artist. From 2D concept art like Djamila Knopf to digital human masters like Kris Costa or Marco di Lucca. In fact, I like to keep my art reference in a wide range of variaety from stylized sharacters to hyperrealism, I believe it is healthy to try different styles.

What can we expect to see from you next?
Marlon
I will soon be releasing the Likeness course from ArtHeroes.co which I am working on at the moment. This is what I have been requested from users for the last 2 years and I wanted to make sure to create a very structured course on it. So stay tuned because I will be showing some info very soon!
