Guzz Soares describes his journey from Business Management to ZBrush character modeler, revealing his inspirations and challenges along the way.

3dtotal: Hello Guzz thanks for speaking to 3dtotal! First off, could you tell us a bit about yourself, where you are, and what you do?
Guzz Soares: Its my pleasure. I'm a 3D artist working as freelancer, living in the countryside of São Paulo, Brazil. I graduated in Business Management, but when I started to use 3D software, I decided to move to another area and focus myself on something that I really liked to study and learn.

3dt: How did you discover 3D art?
GS: Ive been a big fan of 3D movies since childhood, watching Toy Story from Pixar, but the first time that I saw Kaya, an animation from Alceu Baptistão, I thought, Thats what I want to do.

3dt: What software do you prefer to use?
GS: I use ZBrush for sculpting, 3ds Max for modeling and rendering, and Photoshop and After Effects for post-production.

3dt: Youve been trying to post a sculpt every day. Hows that challenge going?
GS: It has been crazy. I decide to try new techniques and find new challenges every day. Its hard to keep working on new stuff every day, but it helps my learning

3dt: Who are your favorite artists, traditional or digital? What inspires you?
GS: There are a lot of artists that inspire me, such as Rafael Ghencev, Victor Hugo Sousa, Kris Costa, Gilberto Magno, Fausto de Martini, Gio Nakpil, Bruno Câmara, Rafael Grassetti, Leticia Reinaldo, Marco di Lucca.

3dt: Are there any techniques, tools, or skills that youre hoping to work on in the future?
GS: I want to start studying animation next year, and maybe start to learn traditional sculpture too. Both will be a big challenge, but its worth learning.

3dt; Finally, and most importantly, if you could have any superpower, what would it be?
GS: I dont know if its a superpower, but if I could use the Force, like a Jedi, it would be awesome.
