Thank you for sharing your journey so far with our readers. Let’s begin: please introduce yourself and let us know how long ago your journey started? What drew you to art? Any early influences?

Ali

Well, hi, I'm Ali Farvardin, and I am 25 years old, thank you for letting me talk to you. I'm a graduate of architecture, and that made me interested in art. Then, I became interested in architectural simulation. In my opinion, art is innate, and the essential element of knowing art is natural. Art has a lot of meaning. From my perspective, art is very complex; I cannot call myself an artist in general! I have been working professionally for three years, and I would like to be more professional.

Do you still have any early artwork? We’d love to see your early work, be they digital or traditional. How do you feel about these works now?

Ali

Yes, I've kept my first renders and artwork. I believe keeping and analyzing early paintings made me improve my presentation. These works also illustrate the amount of passion for your job, and no one was professional at the beginning! In total, I can say early results are always useful.

What training or learning did you do in those beginning stages? Could you see your progression?

Ali

In the beginning, I spent a lot of time on my skills and learning by reading books, and watching many instructional videos. Even 17 hours a day!  For instance, I took 3 hours on lighting a scene. But now, I can do this in a few minutes. So don't give up, and watch tutorials!

Can we see some of your progression artwork? Where did you think you were improving? And where did you need to improve upon?

Ali

Sure. You can find my top renders, which were featured in your gallery, in this link. I can say that I have a lot of passion for making a snowy scene (my friends call me the snowman). I found my progress in exterior renders. Because you should consider a lot of points like optimizing, and work like a pro.

What are you still working on improving (if anything) - or have you reached a point of high consistency? Do you have any tips for keeping it fresh?

Ali

Indeed I am a simple student, and I have to progress still. There are many things that I need to experience and explore, so, I try to learn day by day, read books, and look at magazines to improve my work. A visualization artist should study for the rest of his life and not have false self-confidence.

What advice would you give to any of our readers who are just beginning their journey now?

Ali

I recommend different things to everyone who reads this article:

  1. Never have false self-assurance
  2. Always try to follow your profession and keep watching tutorials every day
  3. Try not to have not a bias towards any one software

And the important thing is to be sure not to compare yourself to another person because you do not know that person's circumstances and experience. In my opinion, every person should compare themselves to the past and seek progress. Compare yourself to another person whose personal life you do not about, or the amount of effort they make, is meaningless.
