Charity Donations: Autumn - Winter 2020
From 2020, 3dtotal has committed to donating 20% of our net profits to charitable causes to help the world and the people who inhabit it, thanks to the incredible support from our valued customers, employees, and partners. We wanted to share what our success has allowed us to donate from March – September 2021...

- £3,316 to HCC Children’s Home in Nepal
- £5,978 to Eden Reforestation Projects to plant 81,902 trees
- £10,720 to Coalition for Rainforest Nations
- £10,720 to Clean Air Taskforce
- £10,720 Local Charities (TBC)
Including previous donations made since 2011, our running total now stands at £366,798, approximately $506,181
From 2020 onwards, we pledged to plant one tree for every book we sold, in a bid to help offset the environmental impact of the printing and shipping of our books. Our success during this latest time period means that we can plant another 81,902 trees from the sales of our books, with the help of Eden Reforestation Projects. Since our pledge, we have now planted an incredible 350,700 trees. The pictures above show the beginnings of the 3dtotal mangrove forest in Mozambique. We would like to thank everyone who has bought a 3dtotal book this year and helped us make this happen!
The Coalition for Rainforest Nations seeks responsible stewardship of the world’s last great rainforests through innovative strategies which integrate social, economic, and scientific rationales to achieve environmental and social sustainability. It has been identified as one of the most impactful environmental charities by Founders Pledge, and we are extremely happy to be able to continue our support of this empowering charity.
Closer to home, 3dtotal Publishing also owns and manages its own small local woodland. The area was purchased with the aim of saving it from invasive species, improving habitats, and increasing biodiversity. Over the last six months, data gathering and reporting from the site has been used to help influence decision-making at COP26.
Over the last few years, we have started to explore the world of Effective Altruism and it has since become one of our biggest beneficiaries. Their research reveals how supporting high impact interventions has been proven to make the biggest difference. They operate by the guiding principles of commitment to others, scientific mindset, openness, integrity, and collaborative spirit. In our resolution to help the earth through donating to worthy causes, we use the Centre for Effective Altruism as our guide to ensure our charitable funds make as much impact as possible.
A sizable donation of our charitable contributions over the last 6 months has gone to the Clean Air Task Force. This is a non-traditional, fact-based, environmental organization looking for solutions to the climate crisis based on scientific evidence, intellectual integrity, and pragmatism. Most recently, CATF was at COP26 to advocate on the world’s biggest stage for the changes required to tackle climate change — including pushing the next generation of carbon-free technologies into the marketplace and highlighting the importance of cutting methane emissions.
Ever since 2018 and a trip made by 3dtotal founder, Tom Greenway, to the HCC Nepal Children’s Home in Kathmandu, we have helped the children in whatever practical way deemed necessary. From a large refrigerator, new school uniforms, funding for a new dormitory and classroom, to food and new bedding, we continue to provide essential support to this charity that remains close to our hearts.
