Modeled/Rigg/Rendered in Alias's Maya. These are subdivision surfaces with details added with displacement and bump maps. The face has
one displacement map and four bump map layers at any one time. These maps are animated to match the position of the facial muscles. eg. When his brow raises the skin on the forehead displaces accordingly. The final image is composited in Adobe After Effects from six separate layers: just
color; ambient occlusion; subsurface illumination for the skin; key lighting; fresnel reflection ; maya paint effects hair . there's no touching up made to the image.
