Here's the third design I've done for a series of character painting demos. With this image, I wanted to show a different process. In the previous designs (The Reaper and The Orc), there was a heavy basis on working in greyscale to workout the overall design first, and then build it up gradually. For The Pilot, a lot of the early design was created using photography and textures, and then a lot of over painting was done on top. I was trying to play around with some different techniques in this image, and I also didn't have a very clear design direction which did cause some issues (you can see in the video below that the background changes quite drastically throughout the production!). But, the whole point is to show different ways how to build up a design, so I guess it was a success there. I hope you enjoy!
