As the spirit of spring arrives, the first melt begins and swallows gather in anticipation of the season. This was a piece exploring composition and movement, primarily. Attempting to infuse a somewhat calm and still atmosphere with a dynamic, swirling excitement, through the movement of swallows and echoed in the gathering clouds that will bring the spring rains. With obvious bows to Hayao Miyazaki and Princess Mononoke in particular, the creature's design was produced through many studies of elk, moose and antelope. The twin sets of antlers I wanted to have opposing effects, the upper (white) set infusing it with an unnatural and spiritual element, and the lower (log-like) set tying it back to the wild.
