”Into the deep”.
This piece was a journey for me to explore things I have very little experience with. Namely water, caustics and wet surfaces.
First time working without a reference, so it was really hard to know if what you where doing would look realistic or not. Tried to use the experience from previous digital human projects.
For the lighting I tried to create contrast areas in the picture. You have this bright area in the pool behind her on the left, next to the face in shadow. And on the brighter right side of the face I let the pool be darker behind her. The lower part is bright from the caustics while the top of the image is dark. I also added a rim as it created interesting highlights in the hair and water drops.
Rendered with Maya V-ray, Yeti for hair. Wikihuman Emily for face model, Daz3D gen8 female base used for body. Substance for waterdrop mask on forehead. Mudbox for painting drops on the rest of the face. Nuke for compositing. Rendertime 18 hours.
