My version of Miles Morales / Spider-Man
I always wanted to make a Spider-Man and I was inspired by the concept of the incredible Gop Gap, again, but each work by this artist makes me want to do it in 3D.
I've been working on this project during the quarantine, and when I saw the original artwork I thought it would be cool to see Miles in a more adult version. Here he is in his thirties and he masters his powers perfectly and has found the balance between modernity and simplicity.
I've read some Spider-Man comics and the art book "Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse -The Art of the Movie" to properly understand the character in the aesthetic way but also what he represents. During this project I watched the documentary series "The Last Dance", so I was inspired by Michael Jordan for the face details, I watched every making of Spiderman movies to understand how the suit is made, and I replayed the PS4 game to see the different costumes in every way.
Since childhood I've always been a big fan of Peter Parker but I love how Miles takes on Spider-Man's costume and the responsibilities that go with it. The diversity that this character brings is essential and I didn't think when I started this project that it would make as much sense with what's happening in the world nowadays.
(I used ZBrush for modeling, Substance Painter for texturing, rendering was done in Maya with Arnold, hair with xgen. The skin details are a mix of XYZ alpha and brushes from zbrushguides.com
HDRIs used are from hdrihaven.com)
