Staff pick contest November 2018

The inaugural Staff Picks winner has been chosen for November 2018! This month's contest was judged by Rafael Grassetti, a character art supervisor working for Sony who has previously featured as contributor and author for 3dtotal and 3dtotal publishing.

This first contest covered all entries that had been submitted and chosen as a Staff Pick since the revamp of the new site in September. We’re very pleased to say that the amazing Rafael Grassetti was the guest judge, and he has selected Farzad Maleki’s The Battle of Anghiari “Leonardo da Vinci.”

Excellent job! Really complex piece to execute and reproduce. I love how you made sense of the motion in 360 by only using the one reference. I would have loved to see the use of grey values to help break up the shapes a bit more so it’s easier to understand what is happening. Other than that I love what you did with this! Thanks for sharing!
