Joan of Arc contest

Guest judge, 3dtotal staff

3dtotal staff will all take part in the final judging with the collective favorites getting whittled down into 1st, 2nd, and 3rd!

Meet the team

The competition

It's almost 10 years since 3dtotal first hosted the 3ds Max Joan of Arc box set of tutorials, created by Michel Roger. It was an introduction for many first-time modelers looking to get into character design, and spanned 22 parts, and in many ways kicked off 3dtotal's emergence as a resource for artists to visit and find tutorials and inspiration on a daily basis. So what better way to celebrate than to make Joan of Arc the theme for our inaugural Themed Contest, to run from 28 October to 19 January. And with any luck - the first of many!

Take a look at the 3ds Max box set for inspiration, particularly the introduction, and then recreate your own version of Joan of Arc, in 2D or 3D, traditional or digital, and then upload to the 3dtotal gallery through your 3dtotal account. You will need to ensure they are correctly tagged with either "joan of arc" or "joanofarc." The currently active contest tags will be displayed to you on the creation upload page to ensure that you do not miss out. You can then view all current entries below, and on the Galleries page up top.

Entry will close on midnight 19 January 2020, to give you all enough time to come up with something amazing, including those using 3D. There will be no bias in judging between 2D and 3D entries, as we will look at each entry on its own merits. There is also no limit on the number of entries that you can make.

So, to summarize:

  • Register through our sign-up page (if not already a member)
  • Upload your Joan of Arc creation before midnight 19 January 2020 to qualify
  • Tag either "joanofarc" or "joan of arc"
  • 2D or 3D entries are eligible
  • Digital or traditional entries are eligible
  • Unlimited entry

Judges decision is final! Winners will be contacted by 1 February. Good luck!
